God is so good! I am so excited about the miracles that I have witnessed and been a part of during the last 30 days that I simply cannot contain myself! For the last few months I have felt the tug at my heartstrings to return on mission to Africa. In mid-December that calling was confirmed with the news that The LORD’S Child has made covenant with an African Church and received 2oo acres in the jungles of Uganda! Owning this amount of property is unheard of in Uganda. Squatters are prolific and when they move into an area and lay claim to land they cannot be uprooted. The squatters are merely attempting to survive like everyone else. God has moved in an unprecedented way! What was once only 7 acres with an orphanage is now 200 acres! Now, the squatters can become part of the village.
A church has been established. An orphanage and dormitories for the orphanage are almost complete. There will need to be wells dug to provide safe drinking water for the village. Currently, they get their water from a stagnant pond. With this two hundred acres, more squatters will converge upon the village which will expose them to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The future plans are to finish the orphanage, establish safe drinking water wells, build a school, build a very basis medical clinic and establish forestry, agriculture and fish farming for the village. In other words we help them become self sustaining while giving credit and glory to God.
I am trusting God for 100 sponsors to donate $40.00 each. That will get me to Uganda and back home. While in Uganda I will share the Gospel of Christ, work on construction, hopefully provide some basic medical needs, and assist in the planning of projects and phases of completion. However; I do not ask for your financial assistance alone. I ask for your prayers on this matter. Pray for the mission. Pray for me and my family. Pray for the mission team’s safety. Additionally, I do not ask for your financial assistance or your prayers without some means of sacrifice on my own part. Let me explain briefly.
May 23, 2013 I underwent knee surgery to my left knee. I weighed in at 267 pounds! The doctors told me that if I didn’t lose weight that I’d be looking at double knee replacements within two years and I am still WAY too young for that! I have taken their advice to heart. Since then, and as of this writing on January 4, 2014, I now weigh 228 pounds, having lost 39 pounds. This was achieved by diet and minimal exercise on my part. My goal is to weigh in at 190 pounds (loss of another 38 pounds) on my 52nd birthday on May 2, 2014. I am asking God for 100 sponsors at $40.00 each and I will sacrifice food (which I love very much) and time for real exercise (which I don’t love quite so much) to lose weight, get healthy, and be in proper shape to minister on this mission trip. For your support and prayers I will return your gifts with prayer for you. I plan three 21 day periods of fasting and prayer during this time. I know that I need your prayers. I suspect that you could use my prayers in return. You sponsor me (sacrifice $40.00) I sacrifice food, time, and effort to lose the weight, leave my family, and share the Gospel of Jesus Christ. You send, I go, we pray for each other. It’s that simple. Additionally, I will be doing weekly posts here to keep you all abreast with how things are proceeding with the mission plans and my weight loss.
It’s all very simple. Send your sponsorship of $40.00 to: Lonnie Richardson, 501 Keeneland Blvd., Seymour, TN. 37865
It is IMPORTANT: Make your check/money order out to: The LORD’S Child
Put my name (Lonnie Richardson) on the bottom left corner.
Your financial support is tax deductible as long as you follow those two instructions.
God Bless!
In His Grip,
