Witnessing: The Daily Witness

Witnessing- The Daily Witness

What does it mean to witness daily? Well, it could mean several things. It could mean that the power of the Holy Spirit is flowing strong and that you are being brought into people’s lives on a daily basis to share the Gospel of Jesus with them, leading them to salvation in Jesus Christ. That is a wonderful thought. Indeed it is something that I dream about and something that I pray for. Honestly, I can’t say that it happens like that on a daily basis but I can hope and pray. Certainly, it is something that I am on alert for and I watch for opportunities on a daily basis.

More than likely, not many of you have the “luxury” of the Holy Spirit sending you those convicted of their sin and seeking Jesus on a daily basis either. There may be several reasons for this but I wonder if it is that we have just not matured in faith, wisdom, knowledge, and boldness. It may well be that we are not to the point that we can be entrusted to witness to those needing Jesus at that level, as yet.

So what does it mean to witness on a daily basis. It is actually quite simple. You witness to others on a daily basis by the way that you live. When you walk through your daily activities in the work place and you do not allow circumstances to frustrate you or cause you emotional distress, you are witnessing to others.

Philippians 4:6 (NASB95)

6       Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.

There it is in plain English. When others see that you are not worried or anxious about anything in your personal life or in the work, they will want to know how you do it. That OPENS a door to witness!

When others see you walk away from a distasteful joke or that you do not swear or curse they may or may not respect you. But they will know that you do not partake of such things.

One thing is certain. If you openly profess to be a Christian and you explode with every distressing circumstance, tell the dirty joke, or swear and curse, you have DESTROYED any opportunity that you will EVER have to witness to them.  Why? You are a Christian whose life has not been CHANGED by the GOSPEL that you advocate. IF it has not worked for you, why should they WANT what you have?

When we live our lives in a Christ like manner people notice how our lives are drastically different in a better way. They want to know how we don’t get frustrated and blow up. They want to know how we remain calm through a family crisis. They want to know why we are so happy and how our attitude is so much different. They want to know why we bow our heads and offer thanks before a meal.

How do we accomplish these things? Because we are disciples in the process of being discipled who read our Bibles and spend time in prayer. All these things in “Daily Living” are closely related.

We witnesses of Jesus to others in the way that we live! Do not ever think otherwise. Certainly, no one is perfect. But by increasing our knowledge in Bible Study, and spending time in prayer we are equipped to witness to others by the way that we conduct our lives on a daily basis.

That’s something to think about. Until next time, God Bless!

In His Grip,

Lonnie Richardson
